Bone Broth - Natural & Herb-Free, by Broth of Life

While many people are unaware of it, animal bones and joints contain a high concentration of essential nutrients. In broths, many nutrients can be distilled from these tough structures. The use of bone broth is eons-old; it is still seen worldwide as a nutritious drink. It is an efficient and natural way to supply your body with gelatin. Brewed by Broth of Life, this meadow chicken natural bone broth is made from the meat and bones of genuine meadow chickens. This variant is also herb-free and has a natural taste. It is ideal for people who follow special diets or suffer from allergies.

What makes Broth of Life bone broth so special?

The Broth of Life bone broth is made with great care and attention and can be called a special product for several reasons. For example, the water used to make the broth is carefully filtered three times through a special system to ensure that there is no chlorine or fluoride in the water. Subsequently, a meticulous and manual production process takes place, which involves a lot of time and attention. This way the soup invariably simmers for at least 24 hours, so that the collagen and the other special components that naturally occur in animal bones and connective tissues can be released slowly.

Broth of Life has been researching bone broth for years to develop the highest possible product quality; it is not without reason that she is the market leader in her sector and that her product is also the first 100% certified bone broth in the world! Broth of Life was also the first worldwide to dehydrate and package its products in a convenient powder form, making the soup easy to store and use. When you buy Broth of Life products, you can be sure that you have bought an extremely nutritious and high-quality product of which you know exactly what it contains. Broth of Life prides itself on being transparent about what ingredients are used to produce its nutritious 'golden elixirs', as they like to call their broths.

Bone broth, an ancient tradition

Archaeological finds have shown that the Ice Ages hunters and collectors already used pots to cook fish and carcasses. For example, discoveries have been made all over the world showing that our ancestors have been making broth from freshly caught animal food sources for millennia. Instinctively they already knew the strength and nurturing capacity of animal bones and organs. Bone broth used to have something old-fashioned to it, but it seems to have been making a real comeback in recent years. Simmering bones on low heat for hours takes us back to grandmother's time and reminds us of the importance of good nutrition lovingly prepared. A good bone broth in no way resembles ready-to-eat soups, which often consists only of meat with flavor enhancers and low in nutrients. Nutrients in broth are only released when you let quality bones and bone marrow simmer for at least 24 hours at low temperatures. It is thus that easily absorbable gelatin, vitamins, minerals and amino acids can be easily absorbed by the body. Its timeless and world-wide use is proof that there is no natural food source quite as nutritious as bone broth!

The secret of bone broth

Real food is not only a means to satisfy hunger, it is also nutritious and beneficial for the body. For example, bone broth is rich in bioavailable collagen and contains easily digestible amino acids, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body: it forms bones, teeth, tendons, ligaments, joints and cartilage, among other tissues. In addition, it takes care of your hair, skin and nails and the hollow organs that make up our digestive system (the esophagus, stomach and small intestine). In bone broth collagen is broken down (denatured) into gelatin, rendering it easily absorbable by the body. In addition to gelatin, bone broth also contains special carbohydrates, which occur naturally in the connective tissues. These are glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), the most familiar of which being hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, chondroitin and n-acetylglucosamine.

Benefits:

  • A high-quality, nutritious soup on the table in no time. Don’t spend hours in the kitchen
  • Suitable for both young and old
  • This bone broth of chicken contains gelatin but also essential glycosaminoglycans such as glucosamine, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate
  • Easy to use due to the powder form
  • Contains 100% meadow chickens
  • Made with natural ingredients: free from pesticides, antibiotics and hormones

The importance of collagen for our body

Collagen fibers are important extracellular proteins throughout the body. They make up about 25% to 35% of the total protein content in the body and are used by the body to build the special collagen triple helix structure. This structure ensures that tissues and fibers in our body maintain their strength, cohesion and flexibility. Before about the age of 25 the body makes enough collagen. Thereafter its production decreases and then it becomes useful to supplement this substance, through food for example. More than 90% of the collagen in our body consists of type I. Collagen type II is found in joints, ribs, nose, larynx and intervertebral discs while type III is common in the skin and blood vessels. Bovine collagen is most commonly used in collagen supplements and it consists mainly of type I and III collagen.

Bone broth versus collagen hydrolysate

In bone broth made from high-quality animal food sources, collagen is converted into gelatin through the slow heating process, which is then easily absorbed by the body. Bone broth gelatin consists of several types of collagen and contains essential nutrients, including useful minerals, fats and special carbohydrates (glycosaminoglycans, often shortened to GAGs). Collagen hydrolysate is a progressively processed form of gelatin, in which proteins are broken up into smaller pieces by means of enzymes. Collagen hydrolysate does not contain the extra nutrients found in bone broth. However, both forms contain the main essential amino acids, are easily absorbed and have the same nutritious properties.

Special amino acid profile

Proteins are made up of building blocks called amino acids. These amino acids, 22 in total, are divided into essential and non-essential amino acids. The body can produce non-essential amino acids itself. This is not the case for the essential amino acids, rendering it essential that you acquire these amino acids either through your diet or through supplements. The amino acid profile in bone broth is unique: it contains high concentrations of glycine, glutamine, arginine and proline. They are all essential amino acids.

Eating from head to tail

The head-to-tail principle refers to an ethical and sustainable method of meat processing in which all parts of an animal are used for consumption. Traditionally it was commonplace to use an animal to its fullest after being slaughtered, but in today’s Western society we commonly limit the parts of an animal we use. A shame -- because eating organs and glands is very rewarding! Wisdom that traditional healers from ancient cultures already knew how to implement. It makes sense: the human body is composed of a very specific intermixture of nutrients, enzymes, and bioactive substances that, on consumption in the form of animal organs, support the entirety of the body and fit the nutritional needs of the corresponding organs in that human body. For optimal sustenance, you may choose a supplement with specific glands or organs to replenish nutrients. Anyone who eats according to the principles of evolutionary food believes that our body has a way of directly integrating the nutrients of healthy animal organs. A great example of Mother Nature's work!
