What is Turmacin®?

Turmacin® is a water-soluble and purified turmeric powder extract. Turmacin contains no solvents and is standardized on the amount of turmerosaccharides to ensure consistent efficacy and quality. Unlike other turmeric (curcuma) products, Turmacin® contains no curcuminoids but bioactive polysaccharides, also known as turmerosaccharides. Turmacin® can be combined with other curcuma products that contain curcuminoids, such as the BCM-95. This provides a natural synergy: effects are better than the sum of the parts.

Curcuminoids and turmerosaccharides

Curcuma remains one of the most popular compounds in the supplements industry. The state of science and widely available products of the curcuma root are mainly curcuminoids: the water-insoluble yellow pigments. But there is more to curcuma than just curcuminoids, namely the water-soluble components called turmerosaccharides. These bioactive polysaccharides are also physiologically active and yet hardly used in dietary supplements.

Turmeric is more than curcuma longa

It is therefore important to realize that turmeric contains a wide range of very useful phytochemicals and that the traditional use of curcuma encompasses the whole essence of the curcuma root. The special class of polysaccharides, including turmerosaccharides, is only now fully being investigated. It is known that this group contains a complex mix of (among others) the monosaccharides L-arabinose, D-xylose, D-galactose, D-glucose, L-rhamnose and D-galacturonic acid.

Turmacin® is water-soluble

Because the turmerosaccharides are water-soluble, they are absorbed faster and better than are curcuminoids. Turmacin® turmerosaccharide capsules support, among other domains, the immune system, can be used to maintain flexible joints, and increase vitality.

Turmacin® combined with BCM 95

Do you use a curcuma supplement that includes curcuminoids? Then try combining them with Turmacin®. This gives you a powerful combination of three curcuma components: turmerosaccharides, essential curcuma oils and curcuminoids.

Turmacin® capsules: Benefits

  • Turmacin® is water-soluble and contains pure turmeric powder extract.
  •  Works synergistically with curcuminoid extracts such as BCM-95.
  •  Turmerosaccharides exemplify new developments in the field of curcuma products.

The history of curcuma

Turmeric is one of the most powerful herbs in nature. Curcuma has been used in India for over 2,500 years, where for the first time it was most likely used as a dye. The amazing properties of this spice have been gradually revealed through the ages. Recent research shows that curcuma is a natural powerhouse with broad health applications.

Curcuma (Curcuma longa) and several other species of the Curcuma family are found in the wild in the forests of South Asia, including India, Indonesia, the Indochinese peninsula (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos), adjacent Asian countries, and some islands in the Pacific Ocean, including Hawai'i. All these areas have traditional culinary and medicinal uses that go back to prehistoric times.

The versatility of curcuma

The curcuma we see in supermarkets and toko's is made from the dried and ground turmeric root. Turmeric powder is also an important ingredient in curry powder. Capsules, teas, powders and extracts are some of the turmeric products that are commercially available. The active ingredients in curcuma have powerful biological properties. Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional Indian medical system, uses curcuma for various indications.

Ayurveda and the use of curcuma

In Ayurvedic herbal medicine, curcuma is known as a means of strengthening and warming the entire body. Curcuma is eaten as food throughout Asia, both raw and cooked. Although the turmeric root is very similar to ginger root, it is less fibrous and more easily chewable, crunchy and juicy. The fresh root (not the powder) has a slightly sweet and nutty taste, mixed with a subtle bitterness.
