Amino acids

The human body consists for no less than 20 percent of proteins or proteins and play a very important role in many biological processes. Amino acids in turn are the building blocks of the proteins. A protein can consist of hundreds of amino acids, which can be arranged in many different patterns. Amino acids exist in two forms: the D-shape and the L-shape. Usually only the L-form can be found in supplements. Each amino acid has its own specific effects and as a result they are often used for specific indications.

Amino acids

Supplements containing amino acids may affect many different systems in the body.  Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, peptides and polypeptides.  Human beings require amino acids on an ongoing basis for physiological processes throughout the body.  Amino acids that cannot be processed endogenously (that is, by the body itself) will have to come in through the diet.  The latter are also known as essential amino acids.

Amino acids within the body

A large part of our body, especially the muscles and tissues, consists of amino acids. They are responsible for many biological processes. Cells owe their structure to amino acids, but the latter are also important in the storage and absorption of nutrients. The repair process of the body and the connective tissue is also influenced by amino acids.

Amino acids in food

Of the 20 amino acids, our bodies can make 12 themselves. The remaining 8 must be obtained from our diet. These are the amino acids phenylalanine, valine, threonine, tryptophan, methionine, leucine, isoleucine, lysine, and histidine. These are also called the 'essential amino acids'.

People on a normal diet usually obtain enough essential amino acids to function properly. Proper digestion and adequate production of gastric acid is crucial, however. Some people are less able to absorb certain amino acids. In that case taking supplements may be a wise option.

Purchasing amino acids

At Ergomax we only sell high-quality amino acids such as Acetyl-L-Carnitine and n-acetyl-cysteine. In addition, the collagen hydrolysate of wild cod consists of a complete amino acid complex that is easily absorbed by the body.

Acetyl-L-carnitie is the acetylated form of L-carnitin, a substance which occurs naturally throughout the body.  The compound is made up of amino acids and is produced in the liver and kidneys.  Bodily Acetyl-L-carnitin is most common in muscle, including heart muscle, tissue. It cannot be obtained from natural sources, and for this reason, as a dietary supplement, it is necessarily a man-made product.

Acetyl-cysteine (n-acetyl-cysteine)

Another amino acid is n-acetyl-cysteine, a building block for the protein glutathione.  Glutathione is an important antioxidant for the human body.  The amount of glutathione in the body decreases with age.  By taking n-acetyl-cysteine  in capsules the body’s glutathione level is held constant in an effective and inexpensive way.
