What are prebiotics?
You may have heard of PRObiotics. Probiotics are live bacteria found in yogurt, other dairy products, and some dietary supplements. While probiotics have been shown effective in managing certain gastrointestinal conditions, they’re very delicate.
Heat and stomach acid can easily kill them, and they must compete with over 1,000 bacterial species already in the gut, and they simply do not have the same power that prebiotics do.
PREbiotics are starchy plant fibers that can’t be digested by the body. This is why some prebiotics are referred to as “resistant starch”. Prebiotics promote gut and overall health by encouraging the growth of “friendly” gut flora (such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli).
The beneficial bacteria in the large intestine and colon ferment prebiotics into the short chain fatty acids acetate, propionate, and butyrate. These fatty acids help maintain proper pH in the gut for optimal digestion and healthy metabolism. They also help regulate blood sugar, increase satiety, and discourage the growth of “unfriendly” bacteria.
The benefits go beyond gut health: prebiotics also increase the production of certain neurotransmitters. Increased butyrate levels from prebiotic fermentation stimulate the production of GABA in the brain. Prebiotics also feed the serotoninproducing bacteria in the gut, and serotonin converts to melatonin when darkness falls. The result is reduced anxiety, overall mental clarity, and deeper, more restorative sleep.

Raw Green Banana Flour
Milled in the United States, our banana flour is made from the pulp of unripe bananas before the sugar content has developed. Raw green banana flour is extremely nutrient dense; it’s high in potassium, vitamin
s, minerals, and resistant starch.
Naturally found in many different vegetables, InulinFOS consists of short and long chains of fructose molecules that stimulate the growth of beneficial flora in the gastrointestinal tract, supporting digestive health and reducing blood glucose response. PreBiotic+ features Orafti ®Synergy1 InulinFOS which is made from GMO free chicory grown in Europe.
Sometimes referred to as “mushroom sugar”, trehalose is a naturally occurring sugar found in mushrooms, seeds, algae, and some drought enduring desert plants. Trehalose is only about half as sweet as sucrose (table sugar), has a much lower glycemic index, and a slow digestion process. It’s added to PreBiotic+ because of its strong neuroprotective and antidepressant-like properties.
Also known as “true cinnamon”, ceylon cinnamon can help regulate blood sugar, reduce insulin resistance, and relieve joint pain. It’s also a rich source of antioxidants; just 1 teaspoon of ceylon cinnamon has more antioxidants than 8 ounces of pomegranate juice.
Resistant starch appears to have a consistent effect on metabolism regardless of the type of diet you eat.
