Emu Oil by Walkabout
Emu oil is a natural animal oil extracted from the fat reserves on the back of the emu, an ostrich-like bird native to Australia. Aboriginal people have used emu oil for centuries, possibly hundreds of millennia, because of the various special properties attributed to this rich oil. About 60 to 70% of the oil consists of unsaturated fatty acids, 20% of which are essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, but omega-7 and -9 fatty acids are also found in the oil. The oil is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, D, E and K2 (MK4). Walkabout’s Emu Oil is characterized by a pure, concentrated composition free from other ingredients and additives.
The unique properties of emu oil
Emu oil is known for its unique and rich composition of various healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidants. It is for a reason that Aborigines have used this oil from emus for a long time to treat skin conditions. Although emu oil has been used a lot as a beauty product for the skin in recent decades, the oil is increasingly known for various other properties. The combination of omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 fatty acids explains the oil’s unique potential. For instance, omega fatty acids oleic acid, alpha- linolenic acid and linoleic acid are considered proven to benefit cholesterol levels. Emu oil is also rich in vitamins A, D, E and K2. Vitamin A nourishes the skin, benefits eyesight and supports the immune system, and vitamin E helps protect healthy body cells. Vitamin K supports blood clotting and the bones while vitamin D is important for calcium levels in the blood, benefits the skeleton, the muscles and the cell division process, and supports the immune system.
Rosita’s Extra Virgin Cod Liver oil together with Walkabout's Emu Oil makes for an excellent combination. The vitamin and fatty acid profiles in these two products are perfectly matched, creating a broad and complex whole of nutrients when combined. Both natural oils are pure in composition and are rich in natural vitamins A and D3 as well as multiple omega fatty acids.

The healthy ancestral diet
Emu oil is a source of vitamin K2 (MK4), an important nutrient that used to be abundant in the diet of our ancestors. In 1930, nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston A. Price travelled around the world to study the dietary habits of traditional peoples. He was amazed at the excellent physical and mental health of the indigenous people of Australia. These people, the Aborigines, were free from chronic disease, strong in body and mind, and produced healthy offspring. Dr. Price established that “traditional” diets like that of Australia’s Aborigines were generally rich in micronutrients and contained at least ten times the fat-soluble vitamins than did the typical American diet of the time. Aborigines particularly valued the fat of marsupials and emus.
Focus on the emu
The emu is Australia 's largest native bird. Like the ostrich, the species belongs to the order of the ratite. Emus are slightly smaller and lighter in size than ostriches and can run up to 50 kilometers per hour. They have on their backs a thick layer of fat reserves that, packed with nutrients, helps them to thrive for prolonged periods in the desert environment without water or food. Walkabout only works with emu farms in Australia that have done a lot of research on emus in their natural environment and can therefore properly take care of the animals by understanding what food and what habitat the animals require. The animals can roam freely across large pastures and are kept naturally, without use of vaccines, antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides or other chemicals. An age-old tradition of refining the emu oil was shared with the farmers by an Aboriginal elder, and is meant to preserve the natural synergy, purity and composition of the oil.
Nature at its purest
Walkabout Emu Oil is of superior quality. The oil hails straight from the emus of pure genetic pedigree kept with great care and attention. Nothing is added to or removed from the oil. This ensures that the resulting oil is a natural product that has been processed as little as possible and that is free of hormones, allergens, antibiotics and other chemicals. Due to the attention to quality, the oil is also characterized by high biological activity and has the same pure composition as the oil of wild emu used traditionally by the Australian Aborigines.
It is the mission of the Australian brand Walkabout to educate people about the special properties and benefits of natural emu oil and to help people achieve a better quality of life the diet way. Walkabout emu oil is a particularly rich source of vitamin K2 (MK4) as well as other vitamins and omega fatty acids. Walkabout stays as close to the origin as possible by minimally processing products. In addition, Walkabout exclusively works with carefully selected animal-friendly Australian emu farms.

Better skin, good tasteI like the taste and my skin rashes have become better. A very expensive product though. Also, the product contains only 118 ml and not 120 ml as promised.
Milk free source of vit K2For those very sensitive who are afraid of butter oil due to intolerancies/allergies. 1/4 spoon is enough so it lasts long. My son likes it, no flavour.
