Co-Enzyme Q10 from Doctor's Best contains 100 mg naturally fermented ubiquinone with 5 mg BioPerine®, black pepper extract, which makes Q10 up to 30% better absorbed. Q10 is a cofactor in energy production (ATP) in the mitochondria and a strong antioxidant. The body's own production declines as we get older. One a day with a meal.

Found in a bovine heart

Fred Crane isolated coenzyme Q10 in 1957 from the mitochondria of bovine hearts, at the University of Wisconsin. The heart was a logical place to look: it is one of the organs with the most mitochondria and therefore the most Q10. The name ubiquinone comes from the Latin ubique, everywhere.

Made in the United States

Doctor's Best has Co-Enzyme Q10 made in the United States. The Q10 is made by fermentation. BioPerine® is a standardised black pepper extract with 95% piperine.

Facts about this product

One piece contains 100 mg Q10 and 5 mg black pepper extract. Take it with a meal, because Q10 is fat-soluble. If you take blood thinners or other medication, consult your doctor first.

High Absorption Co-Enzyme Q10 with BioPerine by Doctor's Best

Coenzyme Q10, or ubiquinone, is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance found in all cells of the human body. The name ubiquinone comes from the Latin word ubique, which means 'everywhere'. The body partly produces coenzyme Q10 itself and gets it from food or supplementation. The main function of coenzyme Q10 is that of cofactor in energy production (ATP) inside the mitochondria, the energy factories of the cell. Coenzyme Q10 is also a potent antioxidant.

Benefits

Naturally fermented and of pharmaceutical quality. Good absorption and high bioavailability thanks to the BioPerine® (black pepper extract) formula. Black pepper supports digestive health as well as the respiratory and nervous systems (claim on hold). Black pepper plays a role in blood circulation and digestion of toxins; it is also an antioxidant (claim on hold).

Highly absorbable with BioPerine

Doctor's Best Coenzyme Q10 with BioPerine® is highly absorbable and has a high bioavailability: up to 30% more. CoQ10, or ubiquinone, is converted into ubiquinol in the body. Both elderly persons and (active) athletes often choose a coenzyme Q10 supplement. The body's own production of Q10 decreases as we age.

History

Coenzyme Q10, Q10 for short and also known as CoQ10 or ubiquinone-10, was discovered in 1957 by Professor Fred L. Crane and colleagues at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Shortly after, the chemical structure was established by Professor Karl Folkers and associates at Merck. It was not until the 1980s that research on CoQ10 got off to a proper start. The main reason for this was the fact that Japanese pharmaceutical companies had started producing this substance commercially. CoQ10 is now the subject of over 3000 studies, which show a wide range of application areas and properties.
