Discovered in yeast
Glutathione was discovered in 1888 by the French researcher Joseph de Rey-Pailhade, who found a sulphur-containing substance in yeast that he called philothion. In 1921 the British biochemist Frederick Gowland Hopkins gave it the name glutathione, after its building blocks glutamine and cysteine.
Made in the United States
Seeking Health has this lozenge made in the United States according to GMP. The glutathione is Emothion®, S-acetyl-L-glutathione. Selenium and molybdenum are added as glycinate (Albion®). Sweetened with xylitol and monk fruit and suitable for vegans.
Facts about glutathione
Glutathione is made up of three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine and glycine. The body makes it itself. In S-acetylglutathione an acetyl group is attached to the sulphur, which makes the molecule more stable than ordinary glutathione.
Glutathione with Cofactors lozenges by Seeking Health
Glutathione with Cofactors by Seeking Health provides 25 mg of S-acetyl-L-glutathione (Emothion®) per lozenge, a stable form of glutathione that is well absorbed through the oral mucosa. Glutathione is the body's most important endogenous antioxidant. The formula is complemented with the cofactors riboflavin, selenium and molybdenum, which the body needs to recycle and utilise glutathione. Riboflavin and selenium contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
