Discovered in 1899
Bifidobacteria were described in 1899 by the French paediatrician Henry Tissier, who worked at the Institut Pasteur. He found them in the stools of breastfed infants. The name comes from the Latin bifidus, split in two, after the Y shape the bacterium often has.
Made in the United States
Seeking Health has ProBiota Bifidobacterium made in the United States according to GMP. Each strain has its own code, such as Bi-26 and Bl-04, which pins down the exact strain within a species. The capsule is plant-based.
Good to know about this formula
One capsule provides 12 billion CFU. Keep the jar in the fridge after opening. Because it contains only bifidobacteria, this is the formula without Lactobacillus in the Seeking Health range.
ProBiota Bifidobacterium by Seeking Health
ProBiota Bifidobacterium by Seeking Health contains only Bifidobacterium strains: seven carefully selected species with a total of 12 billion CFU per capsule, including B. infantis, B. longum, B. bifidum, B. lactis and B. breve. Bifidobacteria are among the most important inhabitants of the large intestine. Because the formula contains no Lactobacillus strains, this probiotic is also suitable for people who want to avoid histamine-producing strains.
