Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin
This spray provides B12 as 80% methylcobalamin and 20% adenosylcobalamin, the two forms the body can use directly. That is the same ratio in which both forms occur in the blood. Methylcobalamin is known as the neurological form, adenosylcobalamin as the mitochondrial form. Cyanocobalamin, the form in most supplements, first has to be converted by the body.
Why a pump spray under the tongue
Intake via a spray under the tongue goes through the oral mucosa, so it bypasses digestion. For those who want B12 absorption to take that route, a spray is a direct and simple form.
What methylation is
Methylation is the controlled transfer of a methyl group, one carbon atom with three hydrogen atoms, to proteins, amino acids, enzymes and DNA. It happens continuously in every cell. It plays a part in the folate cycle, the methionine cycle, the BH4 cycle, transsulfuration, the NO cycle, the urea cycle and the citric acid cycle.
Where B12 comes from in nature
Humans, animals, plants and fungi do not make B12 themselves. Only anaerobic bacteria can do that, so the B12 in our food always comes from them. The richest sources are animal-based: shellfish, liver and crab. Plant cells supply pseudo-B12, which competes for the same receptors.
Vitamin B12 spray - Methyl- & Adenosylcobalamin by Ergomax
Vitamin B12 spray contains two bioactive forms of vitamin B12, methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, each with its own effect in the body. B12 has many health claims; this water-soluble vitamin plays an important role in many body processes, including the formation of red blood cells, in cell division, energy metabolism inside the cell, homocysteine metabolism, the nervous system, the immune system and DNA formation.
Optimal absorption via the oral mucosa
B12 supplements are not always properly absorbed in the body. Important here is the shape of B12. For example, the B12 that is taken via capsules must first be bound in the stomach to a substance called 'intrinsic factor' before the B12 can be absorbed further down the gastrointestinal tract. This is not done efficiently for many people. This practical B12 pump spray by Ergomax delivers a fine mist with small vitamin B12 particles directly into the mouth. The vitamin B12 is thus directly and completely absorbed through the oral mucosa.

What exactly is Vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is a general term for a group of essential bioactive molecules known as cobalamines. The name cobalamin is a combination of the words cobalt and vitamin. Vitamin B12 can exist as cyanocobalamin, methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin and hydroxycobalamin. Vitamin B12 is used by every cell in the body and is therefore generally applicable.
Active forms of B12
Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin are the two most bioavailable forms of B12 because they can be used directly by the body. Cyanocobalamin, the most common form in supplements, for example needs to be converted in the liver first. Since only small amounts can be converted, the use of an instantly absorbable, bioactive form, such as this vitamin B12 spray, is an excellent choice. The ratio of these two active forms of vitamin B12 in the blood is approximately 80% (methylcobalamin) and 20% (adenosylcobalamine). This natural ratio can also be found in the vitamin B12 spray.
Neurological and mitochondrial form of B12
Ergomax B12 spray contains a combination of the two most active forms: adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin. Both forms have different effects and complement each other well. Methylcobalamin is known as the neurological form of B12 and plays a role in the essential bodily process of methylation. Adenosylcobalamin is known as the mitochondrial form of B12; it plays a role in the formation of ATP (energy). A combination of both forms of B12 provides the best results.
What is methylation?
Methylcobalamin is essential for the body's methylation process. Methylation takes place continuously in every bodily cell and allows the correct functioning of a variety of mechanisms throughout the body, such as metabolism of cellular energy, genetic expression of DNA, and detoxification of the liver. Technically, methylation is a controlled transfer of a methyl group, or CH3 (one carbon and three hydrogen atoms), to proteins, amino acids, enzymes or DNA.
Methylation takes place in vital bodily processes such as the BH4 cycle, the folate cycle, the methionine cycle and CBS metabolism (trans-sulfation), the NO cycle, the urea cycle and the citric acid cycle.
Vitamin B12 in food
Just like plants, animals and fungi, people cannot produce their own vitamin B12. Only anaerobic bacteria evidence this property. The highest concentrations of B12 are therefore found in sewage drape, manure and mud. The B12 in our diet is also made by bacteria. The richest food sources are always animals. The highest concentrations are found in shellfish, liver and crab. Recent studies have shown that plant cells can only generate pseudo-B12, they do not have the same effect and can even compete with B12 for the same cellular receptors, as a result of which B12 can no longer do its job properly.
Absorption of dietary B12
In all food sources Vitamin B12 is bound to protein. It can therefore only be absorbed if it is split first. This is the big problem with B12: one’s absorption capacity is decisive and the complex absorption steps can change due to not only age and medication use but also lifestyle factors. Vitamin B12 intake with the help of a handy pump spray ensures efficient absorption for everyone.
