This DHEA formula contains bioidentical dehydroepiandrosterone in drop form. DHEA is a steroid hormone produced from cholesterol by the adrenal glands, gonads, adipose tissue, and skin. DHEA serves as a precursor to numerous other hormones in the body; for example, it is the precursor of androgens and estrogens. This DHEA formula contains bioidentical DHEA extracted from the wild yam, Dioscorea villosa. Its molecular structure is identical to the DHEA produced by the body itself.

Pharmaceutical quality

BioMatrix DHEA drops are of the highest pharmaceutical quality and are intended for use under the tongue (sublingually). The carrier of DHEA in this formula is alcohol. The amount of alcohol needed to optimize sublingual absorption is minimal and evaporates very quickly. The alcohol is not absorbed into the body. Sublingual absorption is far more effective than oral administration, where DHEA can oxidize and degrade. Potential absorption problems are also avoided. One drop of BioMatrix DHEA (1.2 mg) is equivalent to 3 mg of micronized DHEA (oral use).

Warnings

Contraindications for using DHEA include high estrogen, testosterone, or DHEA levels. This product is only intended for persons 18 years of age and older. Do not use if you have breast, uterine, ovarian, or prostate problems. Do not use if you have an increased risk of or are currently experiencing prostate, breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications such as hormones or MAOIs, consult your doctor before using this product. This product may affect liver function, alter hormone levels, and cause increased facial hair, acne, and mood swings. This product may cause virilization in women.
