Brahmi, the herb of Brahma
Bacopa monnieri is a small creeping plant that grows in marshes and along waterways in South and Southeast Asia. In India it is called brahmi, a name associated with Brahma, the creator in Hinduism. In the classical Ayurvedic texts, such as the Charaka Samhita, brahmi belongs to the medhya rasayana: the group of herbs associated with the intellect and memory. Brain Drive contains 150 mg per daily dose. In Europe no health claim has been authorised for Bacopa.
Citicoline and Eugene Kennedy
In 1956 the American biochemist Eugene Kennedy discovered how the body makes phosphatidylcholine, an important building block of cell membranes. An intermediate step in that pathway is CDP-choline, better known as citicoline. The pathway is still called the Kennedy pathway. Citicoline has been authorised in the EU as a novel food since 2014. Brain Drive contains 200 mg.
Named after meat and cheese
Carnitine was discovered in meat extract in Russia in 1905 and got its name from the Latin carnis, meat. It plays a role in the transport of fatty acids in the cell. Acetyl-L-carnitine is a form with an acetyl group attached. L-tyrosine was discovered in cheese in 1846 by the German chemist Justus von Liebig and is named after the Greek tyros, cheese. Brain Drive contains 500 mg acetyl-L-carnitine and 400 mg L-tyrosine.
Four B vitamins
Two capsules provide niacin, vitamin B6, folate and vitamin B12. Niacin, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute to normal psychological function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system. Niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folate contribute to the reduction of tiredness. At 7.5 mg, vitamin B6 is well above the reference intake; the EFSA applies an upper limit of 12 mg per day from all sources combined.
What is Brain Drive?
Brain Drive is a supplement developed with mental clarity and concentration in mind. It contains a carefully composed mix of ingredients such as L-tyrosine and citicoline, chosen on the basis of their role in cognitive performance and focus. The formula is designed to offer support in situations where mental alertness is desired, such as during intensive mental work or prolonged concentration. Brain Drive is popular among professionals, students and athletes looking for a natural product that fits their mental resilience. Citicoline is often used in cognitive formulas because of its role in brain activity. L-tyrosine is an amino acid that the body produces itself and that is valued in specific contexts for its contribution to clear thinking. Together these ingredients form a synergistic whole designed to contribute to a feeling of sharpness without the use of stimulants such as caffeine.
