Activate and optimize your own cannabis system
At Ergomax, we love optimizing body and mind. There are many different perspectives, methods, supplements, and combinations of these that can contribute to that. Since the body functions as a system of systems, it helps if you also learn to think in systems.
Learn to think in systems
Optimizing your hormonal system, for example, is one approach, or your circulatory system, or your musculoskeletal system. Exercise affects all three. If you learn to think in systems, you can come up with effective interventions that influence multiple systems at the same time.
The three systems mentioned above are generally well known. But there are also systems that deserve more attention, such as the gastrointestinal system or the endocannabinoid system.
The endocannabinoid system
Because it is an emerging topic, we focus here on the endocannabinoid system. If you understand its basic workings, you can “biohack” this system and tap into a biochemical treasure chest of nature that literally forms the connection between body and mind.
9 tips to increase production
Below you can find 9 different tips to help increase the production of endocannabinoids in your body. We go beyond simply taking CBD oil (also known as hemp oil or cannabis oil) or weed oil (with THC). Fortunately, that is not the only way to activate your endocannabinoid system. There are more fundamental and gentle ways that can provide the same benefit. You can also combine the tips below with CBD oil for a stronger effect.
Increase production by:
- Reducing stress.
- Getting enough physical exercise.
- Consuming enough good fats.
- Eating enough omega-3 fatty acids.
- Exposing yourself to cold.
- Getting plenty of sun, in a responsible way.
- Eating plenty of prebiotic fiber.
- Getting a massage.
- Losing weight.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The many functions of this system, which tries to keep the body in balance, are also summed up as: relax, eat, sleep, forget, and protect. Humans and many other animal species have their own cannabinoid system. This system emerged in primitive animals about 600 million years ago. The cannabis plant, by contrast, originated about 34 million years ago.
Its enormous scope and the fundamental way it is woven into our bodies are still not fully understood. What is clear, however, is that the endocannabinoid system acts like a conductor, regulating various aspects of how we function.
What are endocannabinoids?
Endocannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system are named after the plant that led to their discovery: cannabis. After the discovery of plant cannabinoids such as THC, it became clear that the body produces similar chemical compounds that activate the same receptors. Endo- therefore means made by the body.
What are cannabinoid receptors?
Receptors are generally proteins in cells to which a specific molecule can bind. Receptors transmit signals and thereby trigger a response. Both body-made (endogenous) and foreign (exogenous) substances can activate receptors. The endocannabinoid system has two receptors (CB1 and CB2) to which only cannabinoids and endocannabinoids bind. Think of a lock-and-key mechanism: only when a key fits does the lock open.
