A method from the Viking age
The way Dropi extracts the oil goes back to methods the Vikings already used, which have been refined in Iceland for more than a thousand years. By keeping the temperature low, the heat-sensitive components of the liver stay intact.
Processed within 24 hours
The cod is line-caught in the Westfjords, one of the cleanest fishing grounds in the world. The livers go into processing within 24 hours. No preservatives are added, only traces of rosemary extract with natural tocopherols as an antioxidant. The oil is, however, purified of contaminants such as heavy metals.
What three capsules provide
Three 500 mg capsules contain 368 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, of which 121 mg EPA and 170 mg DHA, and naturally 435 micrograms of vitamin A and 5.3 micrograms of vitamin D. That is 54% and 106% of the reference intake. The capsules are made from fish gelatine.
Dropi Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil
Dropi Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil from Iceland is produced entirely using traditional methods. “Extra virgin” means the oil is 100% cold-processed. This minimal and careful processing has one important goal: to preserve the natural essence of cod liver as much as possible. The result is a cod liver oil with a broad spectrum of nutrients in their original balance and form.
Advantages
Dropi is extra virgin, raw and pure, without unnecessary additives. The cod liver oil is made from the freshest cod (Gadus morhua), line-caught in the crystal-clear waters of the Icelandic Westfjords. The traditional cold processing preserves the natural properties. HACCP certification and GMP compliance guarantee the quality.
A millennium of Icelandic tradition
Dropi's unique extraction method goes back to ancient Viking methods with a history of more than 1000 years. The temperature remains below 42 °C at all times. This preserves the natural properties of the oil, in particular the essential omega-3 fatty acids but also vitamins.
Nutritional value per serving
Per serving of three capsules, Dropi contains 12.3 calories and 1.38 g of fat from cod liver oil, of which 0.24 g saturated fat and 7.1 mg cholesterol. In addition, 435.3 mcg vitamin A (54% RI) and 5.3 mcg vitamin D (106% RI). The 368.4 mg of omega-3 fatty acids consist of 121.2 mg EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), 169.5 mg DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and 77.7 mg other omega-3 fatty acids.
Not your standard fish oil
Ergomax limits itself to minimally processed omega-3 supplements, and for good reason. All forms of processing inevitably involve compromises in the effect of all the original product components and ingredients. Standard fish oil products are a perfect example of the problem, as they often undergo intensive processing. Processing makes many fish oil products a fundamentally different experience from eating fish. So there is a lot to be gained by minimising these preparation steps. With Dropi extra virgin cod liver oil, you get a good deal closer to eating a piece of fresh fish. Your body recognises it as real food.
Fresh and pure
Freshness and purity are top priorities at Dropi. The livers are processed within 24 hours of being caught. Artificial additives such as preservatives are not used. In addition, the oil is purified to remove contaminants such as heavy metals. This results in a 100% natural, extra virgin cod liver oil in its purest form.
Preservation of nutrients
Cold processing ensures that heat-sensitive components remain intact. Unlike most other cod liver oils, Dropi contains the full spectrum of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly DHA and EPA. The naturally occurring vitamins A and D3 from cod liver are also preserved, meaning there is no need to replace them with synthetic alternatives.
Sustainably sourced, 100% traceable
Fresh cod is a natural product, reflecting changing seasonal influences and fish populations. Sustainability and collaboration with local fishermen are therefore key principles, from sourcing to distribution. Dropi is part of Iceland Responsible Fisheries (IRF), active since 2007 and formally established in 2011. This programme is committed to the ecologically and economically sustainable management of all the good things the sea has to offer. Since 2016, IRF has been recognised by the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI). In addition, Dropi products are 100% traceable, from fish to bottle.
