What are antioxidants?
Your body is constantly exposed to external influences, such as stress, intensive exercise, poor nutrition, alcohol or too much sunlight. This causes oxidation and free radicals in the body. Oxidation in itself is a natural process. Free radicals are captured by antioxidants. Antioxidants thus protect healthy cells and tissues. The battle between oxidation and antioxidation is always present in the body. However, with sufficient antioxidants in the body, this process remains in balance. Antioxidants become increasingly important as we get older. We have antioxidants in our webshop from various brands, such as Turmeric Strength or Curcumin Phytosome - Meriva®, Transresveratrol, Astaxanthin, MitoQ and Selenium.
Antioxidant supplements
Antioxidants can be found in many healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits and nuts. Important antioxidants in foods include vitamin C, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, glutathione, and R-alpha-lipoic acid. Antioxidants are sold as separate supplements and are often added to nutritional supplements with other active ingredients. Supplements with antioxidants can be a solution if getting sufficient antioxidants is challenging or if you are routinely exposed to negative external influences.
Ubiquinol, Astaxanthin and R-Alpha Lipoic Acid
In addition to the more well-known antioxidants in our webshop, such as vitamin C, E and selenium, we offer a number of special antioxidants. Examples include Astaxanthin from Doctor's Best and Ubiquinol and R-alpha lipoic acid from Ergomax. Astaxanthin is a colorant and belongs to the carotenoids. This nutrient can, for example, absorb a very broad spectrum of free radicals. Ubiquinol is a form of coenzyme Q10 and is also an important endogenous antioxidant. R-alpha lipoic acid is special as an antioxidant because it is both water- and fat-soluble. In addition to antioxidant capsules, Ergomax also offers antioxidant cream and antioxidants in both liquid and powder form. Do you have questions about which type of antioxidant is best for you?
