Niacin - NiaXtend® by Doctor's Best
Niacin (nicotinic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin (B3) that plays a role in over 200 biochemical reactions in the body. It contributes to normal energy production, the proper functioning of the nervous system as well as normal psychological functioning. Vitamin B3 is also important for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
Less niacin flush
There are two forms of vitamin B3: niacin (or nicotinic acid) and niacinamide (or nicotinamide). Niacin may cause a kind of hot flush after ingestion: the skin and face become warm and red. This is accompanied by an annoying tingling, burning and itchy feeling. Doctor's Best Niacin with NiaXtend® does not cause this flush. This tablet has a controlled release: the niacin is released slowly over an eight-hour period, preventing unpleasant side effects.
NiaXtend® Controlled Release
Niacin is a unique niacin formula using a wax matrix technology. This technology releases the niacin in a controlled, delayed manner such that not everything is released in the body at once. Prevention of this niacin peak is essential when higher doses are used. NiaXtend has a dosed release and effect.

Beneficial for the nervous system
Nutrition rich in niacin or niacin supplementation has positive effects on the nervous system and learning ability, including in elderly. This may be due to the direct influence of niacin on certain nerve cells. Niacin is also a powerful antioxidant that helps fight free radicals.
Two essential coenzymes, NAD and NADP
Niacin, B3, produces two essential coenzymes in the body: NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, coenzyme I) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, coenzyme II). In the body Vitamin B3 can be synthesized only to a limited extent, from tryptophan.

Take 1 tablet daily with food or as recommended by a healthcare practitioner. Caution: Temporary flushing such as heat, itching or redness of the skin are common side effects that can occur on first use. These effects may worsen if you drink alcohol or hot drinks shortly after taking niacin. Do not take more than 500 mg per day (1 tablet), except under the supervision of a physician. Liver damage and jaundice are risks with high doses of niacin. Avoid high doses of niacin if you have a liver or kidney disease.
