CoQ10

Below you can find an overview with our supplements that contain the Coenzyme Q10. A number of products contain coenzyme Q10, such as Ubiquinol for example. A Coenzyme Q10 food supplement preferably contains Ubiquinol. Ubiquinol is much faster and better absorbed and is thus immediately available to the body. Vitamin-like substance coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is part of the group of ubiquinone compounds. Animals and humans can synthesize ubiquinones. Therefore, coenzyme Q10 is not formally considered a vitamin. The name ubiquinone is derived from the term "ubiquitous" which stands for the ubiquitous presence of these compounds in living organisms and for their chemical structure, which contains a functional group known as benzoquinone. As a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance, Q10 is found in every body cell.

Ubiquinol and Ubiquinon

Coenzyme Q10 is used in various forms in supplements. Ubiquinol is the reduced form of CoQ10 and ubiquinone is the oxidized form. Both have different functions in the body and in their areas of action the mitochondria are constantly being converted into each other. For supplementation, ubiquinol is often preferred. Co enzyme Q10 ubiquinol is faster and better absorbed into the body than ubiquinone due to its water solubility. It is also an antioxidant and has a longer half-life than ubiquinone so it remains available to the body longer. Lower doses of ubiquinol are also required than ubiquinone for the same effect. Finally, as we age, the conversion of ubiquinone to ubiquinol may slow down. Ubiquinol can be used directly by the mitochondria.

MitoQ

Particular CoQ10 formulas in our range are those from the small New Zealand-based company MitoQ®. MitoQ® has been researching MitoQ, a molecule they have patented, for over a decade. In fact, MitoQ® products contain Mitoquinol Mesylate: the shortened and positively charged version of coenzyme Q10. This molecule provides the most active form of coenzyme Q10. MitoQ® capsules come in various forms and for different uses, including for the heart, blood sugar, liver, eyes, brain and joints, among others. In addition, MitoQ offers a range of skin care products aimed at natural skin rejuvenation and anti-aging.
