Herbal medicine: Its history
Herbs have a long tradition of use in virtually every culture. Herbal medicine informed the first medical systems. For example, Ayurveda is a well-known system in India. Herbs also have an central place in traditional Chinese medicine. Herbs can be extracted from plant material by means of various extraction methods. Contemporary herbal medicine draws eclectically from ancient Eastern wisdom, domestic traditions, folk remedies and modern scientific research.
